The international trade in wildlife is very profitable to ruthless individuals who have no concern for the suffering they cause. Social animals are torn from their families, often incurring the death or injury of defending parents and companions. Many of these victims are exploited for the "entertainment" of holiday visitors to popular destinations. Some years ago, IPPL conducted a campaign against this abuse and we achieved notable success by demonstrating the harm caused to the tourist industry. Travellers do not leave their consciences at home. We still continually receive reports of a thriving market in wildlife entertainment, despite the improved protective legislation that has been enacted in many countries. We need factual information on the extent of this exploitation if we are to secure a positive reaction by enforcement authorities. We need the loan of your eyes and ears.
