The Gibraltar government has still not
committed to a no culling policy, despite offers of
help and sanctuary for unwanted groups of their world-famous ‘Barbary apes’.
Back in November 2008, around ten were killed under government orders, despite our offers to relocate them. |
The EU Directive 86/609, which legislates
animal testing in Europe, is currently under review
and the UK Government has launched a public
consultation on the proposed changes. Help us to
ensure that we make a breakthrough for primates. |
A documentary following people in the US with their pet monkeys has caused widespread concern and condemnation. The people featured treat their pets like surrogate children, including dressing them in clothes and, in one case, even applying makeup. |
